Cosori TurboBlaze 6-quart — the one I would buy for most kitchens

Model CAF-DC601-KUS. Square 6-quart basket, PFAS-free ceramic coating, 90–450°F, 1,725 watts, nine functions including air fry, roast, bake, broil, proof, reheat. TurboBlaze is Cosori's name for a faster fan and a quieter motor (they claim under 53 dB on high). 4.8 stars, tens of thousands of Amazon reviews. That review count is real. A star rating is not a lab test.
Why it is practical over fancy. One basket. One crisper plate. Both dishwasher-safe. Square basket holds a family chicken or a tray of vegetables without the dead corners of a cheap round bucket. Ceramic coating is the durability question — treat it like a nonstick sauté pan: silicone or wood, no broiler-level abuse with metal tongs.
Skip it if you routinely cook a protein and a side at different temps. That is the DualZone's job. Also skip if your cabinet depth cannot take about 14.4 inches including the handle.
Ninja DualZone DZ201 — when two baskets earn the space

I wrote the deal note separately. Short version: two real 4-quart zones, Smart Finish, dishwasher-safe baskets, $160 as of August 19. Kitchen-tested use is "chicken left, vegetables right," not "I air-fried a wedding." Wide. Heavy. Worth it only if both baskets will run in the same week.
Ninja AF141 5-quart — the compact Ninja

Air Crisp to 400°F, 1,750 watts, 4-in-1 (air fry, roast, reheat, dehydrate), 5-quart basket that Ninja says holds 4 pounds of fries. Smaller, simpler, fewer programs than the Cosori. Our catalog $129 is barely off $139.99. If the live price is still near list, I would rather put $90 toward the Cosori 6-quart unless you specifically want the Ninja footprint and the 400°F ceiling.
Kitchen-tested rules I actually follow
I will not pretend I ran a 40-unit lab. I cook in a home kitchen the way I cooked on a line: protein, vegetable, leftover re-crisp. That is the test.
- Preheat when the food is raw and wet. Skip it for leftover fries.
- Do not crowd. One layer of thighs. Shake once. If you pile, you steam.
- A teaspoon of oil on fresh potatoes. Always.
- Paper liners are fine for saucy wings. They also block airflow if you cover the whole plate. Cut them down.
- Cleanup the night you cook. Ceramic and nonstick both die from sitting overnight with salt and acid.
What I am not recommending
- No-name 8-quart units with a 4.8-star average and 200 reviews. Capacity lies. Coating lies.
- Instant Vortex Plus 6-quart as a default — our catalog showed $79.99 / $139.99 on August 22, which would be a real value if that buy-box is live and sold by Amazon. Confirm it. I am not hanging a "best of" on an unconfirmed scrape.
- Paying DualZone money for DualZone features you will not use.

- Protein + side, two temps, $160 still live → Ninja DZ201
