I used to model cost-per-use for a living in Chicago. A mouse is an easy spreadsheet. You touch it every workday and every match. The question is not "is the sensor good." The question is whether the extra money buys years, or just RGB and a heavier shell.
Two Logitech mice in our catalog today, August 22, 2026: the G305 LIGHTSPEED at $25.89, and the G502 HERO at $38.99. Thirteen dollars apart. Different jobs.
I am not writing a Superlight 2 essay. That listing is not a clean compare in our catalog today. These two are.
G305 at $25.89: the value default
Wireless. HERO sensor. A single AA. The listing says up to 250 hours. I will not invent a runtime I sat and timed. I will say this: a mouse that takes a supermarket battery is how you avoid a proprietary puck you lose in a drawer.
White G305 is the ASIN I am quoting. It is light, it is shaped like a tool, and at $25.89 the cost-per-use on a five-day desk is noise. If it lasts two years of office plus evening games, you have paid pennies a week.
Skip it if you hate swapping a battery and you want a charging cable ritual. Skip it if you need a dozen buttons for MMO bars.
G502 HERO at $38.99: worth the premium?
Wired. Heavier. 25K sensor on the listing, weights in the shell, RGB, more buttons. $38.99 is not a luxury number. It is a "do I want the extra furniture on the mouse" number.
My verdict: the premium is worth it if you already know you use extra buttons and you like a planted, heavier hand. It is not worth it if you are buying the G502 because it looks like the serious mouse in a stream overlay. Serious is a $26 wireless that does not die mid-raid because you forgot a cable.
I would not pay the $92.15 our catalog also shows on a different G305 ASIN. That is a listing to ignore, not a market price. The white G305 at $25.89 is the number I trust today.
Cost-per-use, not lore

Thirteen dollars is a lunch. On a mouse you will click for a year, I would rather put that lunch into the G305 and keep the cable off the desk. If your hand already loves the G502 shape, pay the $38.99 and stop shopping.
I am not posting a DPI chart I did not measure. Both sensors are past the point where a spreadsheet cares. Longevity is the cable, the switches, and whether you will still like the shape in month eight.
Value verdict
Buy the G305 if you want wireless and you do not need a button farm. Buy the G502 if you want the extra inputs and a heavier wired tool. Buy neither if you are stretching to a $150 "pro" mouse because a ranking list told you to.
Worth the premium over the cheaper rival? Only if you can name the extra buttons you will bind this week.
