iOS 27 RC Hides Edge Light for iPhone Duo — pdfu Says Color Temp Still Incomplete

MacRumors (Joe Rossignol, Sep 10): pdfu found Edge Light gated to an iPhone Duo device subtype in the iOS 27 RC — Mac-style screen-border ring light for FaceTime. Color temperature not fully implemented; unclear if it ships Oct 23 or later. AirPods camera still 2027.
As someone who digs Apple software strings from San Francisco, this is the first post–Surprise and Shine exclusive that actually moved the ball — not another recap of slides we already watched.
The beat
MacRumors (Joe Rossignol, Sep 10) cites pdfu, who has been reading Apple's builds: the iOS 27 Release Candidate contains evidence of Edge Light coming to the iPhone Duo at a minimum.
On Mac (macOS Tahoe 26.2), Edge Light is the virtual ring light that brightens the borders of the display so your face looks better on video calls. You get width and color temperature controls.
pdfu's note, quoted by MacRumors:
Edge Light is coming to iPhone. iOS 27 RC gates the feature behind a device subtype that points to iPhone Duo. The color temperature setting isn't fully implemented.
A simulated-iPhone clip in that coverage shows brightness + warmth sliders that look like the Mac version. MacRumors is clear on what is not known yet: whether Edge Light ships with Duo on October 23, lands in a later update, or expands beyond Duo.
I am not inventing a ship date. Code gate ≠ App Store listing.
Why it matters for Duo buyers
Duo already leans hard on video: under-display FaceTime camera on the inner 7.6-inch panel, Center Stage on the outer 12MP, Duo FaceTime / Duo Preview / Smart Take in the marketing. A Mac-style Edge Light on that big inner canvas is the kind of software exclusive that makes a $1,999 foldable feel less like a slab with a hinge.
Pair that with yesterday's MacRumors under-display mystery — Apple still won't publish a megapixel count for the inner FaceTime camera (1080p/60 max, ƒ/1.8) — and the video story is still evolving after the keynote.

Bottom line: pdfu + MacRumors say Edge Light is Duo-gated in the iOS 27 RC, color temp still unfinished, and Oct 23 availability of the feature is not confirmed. That is the new exclusive — not another event rehash.
