iPhone 18e Leak: A20 Chip, 60Hz 6.12-Inch OLED, One 48MP Camera, and Maybe a 24MP Selfie Cam

Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station posted the first real iPhone 18e spec list on Oct 27: a 2nm A20 chip, a 6.12-inch 60Hz OLED, a single 48MP rear camera, and a front camera that may move to 24MP. Everything else matches the iPhone 17e. It's unconfirmed, and spring 2027 timing is unchanged.
This is a fresh leak, and it's the first real look at the cheapest model in Apple's spring 2027 lineup. On Oct 27, the Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station posted a spec list for the iPhone 18e, reported by 9to5Mac. It's a leak, not an Apple announcement, so treat every line as unconfirmed.
What the leak says
According to Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18e will have:
- A 6.12-inch OLED screen at 60Hz. Same size as the iPhone 17e, and still no ProMotion.
- The A20 chip. That's the 2nm generation. So far Apple has only shipped it as the A20 Pro (in the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and Duo), so this would be the first non-Pro A20 we hear about in a specific phone.
- One 48MP rear camera. No second lens.
- A front camera that "may be upgraded to 24MP." The leaker hedged this one himself. 9to5Mac's Ryan Christoffel guesses that if it happens, it's more likely the 18MP sensor Apple uses in other models today.
The post didn't say whether the 18e keeps the notch or moves to the Dynamic Island.
Why I think it matters
Everything else on that list matches the iPhone 17e. So if the leak holds, the 18e is a chip upgrade in a familiar body, maybe with a better selfie camera. That lines up with the cost-cutting reports we've covered for the spring iPhone 18: memory and storage prices are up, and Apple seems to be holding the line on specs to keep the cheaper models' prices in check.
It also fills a gap. We've heard a lot about the iPhone Air 2 and some about the base iPhone 18 (A20, C2 modem, a possibly smaller Dynamic Island, and the 9GB vs 12GB RAM split between Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu), but almost nothing specific about the 18e until now.
How much to trust it
Digital Chat Station has a long record on Apple and Android hardware, but single-source Weibo posts do get revised. The 60Hz screen and single camera are the safe calls since they match the current model. The A20 claim is plausible given the split-launch timing. The 24MP front camera is the shakiest line, and the leaker said so.
Timing
The spring 2027 plan hasn't changed: iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 together. Earlier this month a Weibo leaker claimed standard iPhone 18 production starts in late November.
Camera AirPods: no change
Nothing new here. Camera AirPods are still expected in 2027, with low-resolution cameras that feed Siri and Visual Intelligence rather than taking photos or video.
If you need a phone before spring
- iPhone Air Space Black 512GB. A thin unlocked phone if you don't want to wait for the 18e or Air 2.
- iPhone 16 Pro 256GB renewed. Telephoto and ProMotion today, two things the 18e reportedly still won't have.
- Anker Prime 25W Qi2.2 MagSafe 3-in-1. A MagSafe charger that works with whichever iPhone you pick.

Bottom line: per Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18e is an A20 upgrade in an iPhone 17e body, with a 60Hz screen, one 48MP camera, and maybe a sharper selfie camera. If you want ProMotion or a telephoto lens, the 18e doesn't sound like your phone.
