Rumor Desk Status: Quiet Since Gurman’s Duo 2 Face ID Report — We’ll Stay Silent Until Fresh Data
This is a status update, not a new leak. Gurman’s Oct 22 Duo 2 under-display Face ID report is still our last exclusive. Oct 24 to 26 brought iPhone Duo teardowns, durability tests, Safari 27.1, and a Mac-focused Power On, but no new iPhone 18, Duo 2, or camera-AirPods leaks. AirPods cameras are still expected in 2027.
I track Apple supply-chain and roadmap reporting from San Francisco. This post is a status update from the rumor desk. It is not a new leak.
Our last real exclusive
On Oct 23 we covered Gurman: iPhone Duo 2 Prototypes Test Under-Display Face ID, and Apple Is Weighing an Action Button. That came from Mark Gurman's Oct 22 Power On podcast (MacRumors, 9to5Mac). Gurman said Duo 2 prototypes have Face ID under the outer screen, an Action button is being tested, a later Duo's inner screen may grow about half an inch, and telephoto is "on their list." Apple hasn't locked any of it. The day before, we covered DigiTimes' report that Apple raised its 12-month Duo shipment target 44%, to 14 million.
Oct 24 to 26: quiet on our beat
I checked MacRumors, 9to5Mac, Gurman's Sunday Power On newsletter, and wider search each morning (Israel time). Here's what came out, and why none of it is a new iPhone or camera-AirPods rumor:
- Launch-week coverage of the shipping iPhone Duo. iFixit's teardown (provisional 5/10 repair score, single-layer logic board, possible causes of the inner-screen cracks), JerryRigEverything's dust and bend test, Verizon pre-order delays with a $100 gift card, Touch ID and Apple Watch unlock tips, the "Opened or Closed" Shortcuts trigger, and the Shift Left Edge case setting. That's real-world product news, not a leak.
- Apple's own Safari 27.1 WebKit post about giving websites more room on the Duo's outer screen. It's official, and Apple says it is still exploring options.
- Gurman's Oct 25 Power On newsletter was about Macs and people: OLED touchscreen MacBook Pros and M6 iMac and 14-inch MacBook Pro expected Wednesday, Oct 28; OLED MacBook Air and iMac still in testing; and display-team leadership changes. Nothing new on iPhone 18, the Duo 2, or camera AirPods.
- Old stories resurfacing. Some aggregators are re-running June's camera-AirPods-in-2027 report. That's not new.
AirPods with cameras: still 2027
Gurman's track hasn't changed. Camera AirPods are still expected in late 2027, with low-resolution stem cameras that feed Siri and Visual Intelligence, not photos or video.
What happens next
I'll stay quiet on this desk until there's genuinely new reporting. That means a fresh named analyst or supply-chain number, a new Gurman exclusive on the Duo 2, spring iPhone 18 timing, or camera AirPods, or a comparable primary source. Teardowns, durability tests, how-to tips, and rehashes of the Oct 22 Power On episode won't trigger another post.

Bottom line: our last exclusive is still Gurman's Oct 22 Duo 2 Face ID report. Oct 24 to 26 brought launch-week news and Mac news, not iPhone or camera-AirPods leaks. I'll post again when there's fresh data.
