Kitchen-tested, not brochure-tested

I am not going to invent a dated chili-batch log. Here is how I actually use a 6-quart Duo at home:

Beans and stock. Dried beans without an overnight soak. Chicken stock from leftover carcasses. This is the job the pot was born for.
Weeknight braise. Pork shoulder, short ribs, a pot of rice on the side. Pressure is a time machine, not a flavor machine. You still brown in the sauté mode or in a skillet first.
Yogurt and steam. I use those modes less. They work. They are not why you buy it.

What I do not use it for: steak, anything that needs a crust you will miss, and "set it and forget it" when the recipe is actually a sauté-plus-pressure sequence. If you will not brown onions, the pot will taste like the pot.

You do not own a 6-quart electric pressure cooker

You will cook beans, grains, or braises at least a few times a month

Wait if

You can hold out for the next $65-ish event. Prime Day already proved that floor in June 2026.

Practical / cleanup / storage

Cleanup. The inner pot and lid rack in the dishwasher. Dry the sealing ring. Keep a spare ring if you cook curry and vanilla yogurt in the same week. Restaurant kitchens learned this with hotel-pan lids; home cooks learn it the first time rice pudding tastes like chili.

Storage. The Duo is a cylinder with a cord. I leave mine out because a pressure cooker you put in a high cabinet does not get used. If you must stash it, keep the lid upside down on the pot so the ring is not crushed.

Durability. Stainless inner pot, plastic body, 1000 watts, more than ten safety interlocks. It is an appliance, not a Staub. Replace the ring. Do not run it empty. Do not force the lid.
