The AirPods Camera Spec Graphic: 1MP Matches the Leak — H3 Does Not
An @ApplesClubs rumored-spec sheet is circulating. 1MP, 640x640, no video, and an LED also show up in Friday macOS code. H3 is still a rumor. Gurman still says 2027.

I already wrote this morning's timing post: Gurman says 2027, macOS Tahoe 26.7 has a Visual Intelligence demo, and AccessorySensorManager talks about dual still cameras. This page is only the spec sheet that started circulating after that.
The graphic is titled "AirPods With Camera — Rumored Specifications." The watermark is @ApplesClubs, a fan/leaker aggregator. It is not Bloomberg. It is not Gurman. I am not treating a Twitter collage as a product page.

What is actually sourced
The 1MP, 640×640, no-video, and LED lines are not ApplesClubs-only. On August 21, MacRumors (Tim Hardwick, via forum member mactracker), 9to5Mac, AppleInsider, and Macworld all reported those numbers from the same macOS 26.7 AccessorySensorManager framework. Engadget recapped the same leak.
The graphic flattens that code. The leak says active capture samples 640×640 and returns a processed 1024×1024 frame — about one megapixel of output, not a 1MP iPhone camera. Passive mode is lower: 320×320 in, 320 or 512 out. MacRumors is explicit that those are capture sizes and the physical sensor "may be larger." I am not turning that into a lab test.
No video is in that code and in Gurman. Bloomberg's line, via 9to5Mac on August 19: the sensors "scan the surrounding environment and provide context to the Siri digital assistant and other AI tools." Not Photos. Not Recents.
The LED is code for a hardware indicator and its brightness — a status light, not a confirmed shipping SKU. Same for "ask about objects" and environmental awareness: Visual Intelligence is in Apple's own demo video; passive-mode triggers (speech, audio change, posture, head rotation) are in the framework. CNET covered the demo video, not this spec sheet. I did not find The Information publishing these pixel counts.
What stays a fan-sheet rumor
H3. The graphic lists it like a confirmed chip. It is not in the macOS leak. MacRumors' rumor roundup still says Apple is working on an H3 and it could show up in camera AirPods. That is a maybe. I will not print it as a spec.
The Pro 3 look is the least mysterious part: the leaked clip looks like a slightly thicker AirPods Pro 3. Gurman has said that pair is the canceled B790 prototype. The 2027 plan is a later generation (B798). MacRumors already warned the framework likely belongs to the pair Apple dropped. Code from a canceled prototype is not a shipping spec sheet.
I am not inventing a price, a battery hour, or a sensor part number.
My note, not a leak
I keep seeing Meta Ray-Bans on the sidewalk in SoMa. A 640-pixel still that never hits Camera Roll is Apple trying to be the less-creepy wearable, not a vlogger cam. The ApplesClubs card makes it look ready to preorder. It is not. If you want noise canceling this week, buy the AirPods Pro 3 in our catalog at $169.09. If you want open-fit and you skip ANC, AirPods 4 is the other live pair.
