Travelpro's Platinum Elite 21-inch spinner is a real bag — USB port, suiter, MagnaTrac wheels — and it is $390 on Amazon and on Travelpro.com. That is list. It is not a deal. If you already own a spinner, spend $40 on organization and a pillow. That is this post.

Packing cubes — the only $20 that changes a trip

Eight cubes is more than I need. I use three: shoes, dirty, clean. The rest stay in a drawer. Compression is nice. The real win is not dumping a whole suitcase on a hotel floor at 11 p.m. after a delayed connection.
I have packed cubes into an Osprey and into a cheap spinner. They keep up with family travel because everyone can own a color. $20 is the right spend. A $60 "compression system" is not.
Neck pillow — $10, or skip

U-shape memory foam. 4.4 rating. Fine for a red-eye if you already know you sleep sitting up. I do not pretend a $10 pillow is a Tempur-Pedic. If you never use one, do not buy one for the aesthetic.
A second catalog pillow (B0CKLHP9NH) also shows $9.99 against a $29.99 "was." I trust the $10. I do not trust the $30 list.
Luggage scale — the bag-fee killer

110-pound hanging scale, backlit LCD. I weigh a packed duffel before I leave Denver so I am not paying for 3 extra pounds at the desk. That is gym-simple: pick it up, read the number, take out the extra pair of shoes.
If you only carry on, skip the scale. If you check bags for a family trip, this is the $18 that saves a $35 fee.
Who should buy the $390 spinner anyway
Frequent flyers who want wheels that track straight and a lifetime repair story. Travelpro's warranty is the reason crews still buy this brand. $390 is the price. Wait for a cut. I would rather you buy cubes + pillow + scale this week and shop the spinner when it is actually on sale.

- Pillows: $10 is the number. Ignore inflated "was" fields.
