This is the Blu ray release of Thunderbirds that the fans have been waiting very patiently to gets their hands on for a very long time. Yes, it is on the expensive side, especially as the box containing all the discs and extras is smaller than I had hoped for. I have the previous Blu ray release, the one with the controversial cropping of the picture. After the DVD I was just happy to have the sharper picture of the Blu ray and didn't bother too much about the cropping. I had considered buying the Japanese release as this was in the correct 4:3 aspect ratio, but held off because of the cost plus I held out hope that one day the UK would have an official 4:3 release.At last it's here and the wait has definitely been worth it! On watching the first episode 'Trapped in the Sky' I was blown away by an even more spectacular picture than on the previous Blu ray! I can't imagine there will ever be a better or more satisfying way of watching Thunderbirds than with this box set in 4:3. For me, even if this box set didn't have any extras that high price tag would still probably be worth every penny for the sheer quality of the picture alone, it really is stunning!Add to that an 8 hour mountain of extras included on the discs, a colourful episode guide over 100 pages and a few mini posters by Graham Bleathman then this is the definitive version of Thunderbirds for your collection. This scores 10/10 for picture quality alone and is very highly recommended.
