Customer Reviews Summary
This was everything 😭 give me all the Ilya and Shane content forever please! This story picks up a few years after the end of Heated Rivalry, they’re together and still just as in love. However, years of hiding their love is taking its toll of Ilya. I appreciated that though both books have both POVs, I feel like the first book is more Shane centred whilst this one felt more Ilya central.Ilya’s journey was so emotional and I absolutely cried at one point. He needs to be protected at all costs. It was beautiful to have Shane and Ilya be so content with one another, and still so happy and in love but also so sad to see how they had to keep hiding their love from the world. It’s not easy, not with what little time they have together and how they must hide themselves still. I thought it was some really well how it showed Ilya’s struggle, and that he chose to get help and slowly leaned to work through his past and open up. We love healthy healing. And the story is full of soft gooey moments (Ilya’s relationship with Shane’s parents was the best 😭) that melted my heart and ones that made me laugh (Ilya’s humour gets me). Ilya’s new friendship with Troy though only a small part of the book, was really special. I love that Ilya’s new team were all wonderful people and though Ilya’s team wasn’t great they started to find their rhythm and Ilya found his passion again. I am firmly team Centaurs! It was the perfect blend of heartfelt growth and struggle, soft adorable, beautiful moments and all the things I’ve come to love about these books - hockey competition, pure friendships and such unending love between Shane and Ilya. They were always endgame and I loved seeing this chapter of their story play out. They had some obstacles to overcome and work through but their love shines through in every page. This book also just deepens the story, the friendships and connections with other side characters and forced decisions to be made. It was an absolute delight reading it and I won’t stop thinking about it for a long time!
