Here we see a pair of Magicians, like filmmakers, doing what they can to draw attention.A profound story, it explores some very hurt characters feelings - of 'enoughness' and 'being seen'.For me it resonates with the missing father figure who could have approved and blessed these characters but instead the situation breaks down and the pains of the magicians come to centre stage.The real trick is to get your attention but in reality who do we really beg attention from, for most people that is ones parents/partner/love who we wanted attention from but didn't get.The films themes include split attention, split personalities, twos and symmetry, so as the audience our attention is also split, mimicking the brokenness of attention the characters feel and incompleteness.Magic tricks help the audience to 'escape' or take break from reality as do movies but this film hints at the idea that that is not what the audience really wants.
