About This Product

'I need this book. It doesn't matter how much I lie to myself – I can't avoid the fact I desperately want to be liked' – Paloma FaithDo you worry about what other people think of you? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why?For too long, our value and self-worth have been tied to pleasing others. We've dimmed our true selves to fit in – no matter the cost. But there's always a cost. People-pleasing and staying likeable means suppressing our feelings, words, actions, and desires, and there's only so much we can conceal before it all unravels.Throughout my life, I've morphed into who others needed me to be, taken on too much responsibility for other people’s sh*t, put myself down, and stayed quiet – all in the hope of being liked. But no more. Now, I'm asking: What do I want? … And do I even like myself? This book holds a light up to all the times I wish I’d broken free of the worry cycle, said goodbye to the ‘good girl’ attitude, and put happiness first. I wrote it so you can do the same. You can't please everyone. So let's stop trying.Fearne x

Customer Reviews Summary

This is a much-needed book for our times, especially for women. If you have ever experienced a tendency to put the opinions of others above your own needs, or found yourself obsessing over what people think of you (spoiler, they don't think about you nearly as much as you fear) then this is absolutely for you. I was astonished at just how much I resonated with so many of Fearne's stories - I thought it was just me!I am in the process of listening to the audiobook and so glad that I am listening to Fearne's voice relay the stories of her past and how she has evolved. She is personable, kind and incredibly down-to-earth, and reminds us that people in the public eye are human and deserve compassion that is very often not afforded by the media. In addition, she brings to light many ways in which women have learned to shrink themselves in order to appease men and meet their impossible standards. She shows that shapeshifting and minimising ourselves to meet these ridiculous and unattainable expectations leads to nothing but a diminished sense of our own worth. It is an enlightening, funny, and brave account of someone who has been through the mill and come out the other side. I think we could all benefit from reading or listening to such an empowering and brave book. I'd like to think I've gained some self-knowledge and self-compassion as a result of 'Likeable'. Thank you, Fearne. Keep doing what you're doing!
