Customer Reviews Summary
Think progressive rock was a mid 1970s self/indulgent fad that was mortally wounded by the advent of punk and killed stone dead by the main progenitors of the here chasing greenbacks with radio-friendly singles (I’m looking at you, Genesis and Yes). Think again.Birthed in Bournemouth, England, this band has been flying the flag for prog since the 1990s, churning out 16 studio albums and cycling through numerous lineup changes. Founding member Greg Spowton has been the common denominator, and here he is again on “Woodcut”, BBT’s first concept album. This LP came about following a visit to the Munch museum in Oslo by Spowton and vocalist Alberto Bravlin. Suffice it to say, we are very glad they decided to go there instead of, say, Akershus Fortress. That is because this double album is virtually flawless. The epitome of a team effort, it really is a prime example of a band producing an output more than the sum of its parts.Very possibly BBT’s finest work, and I don’t say that lightly. Grab a copy now before everyone jumps on the bandwagon. You know it makes sense. If I could give this a sixth star, I would.
