Customer Reviews Summary

Colleen Hoover is one of my favorite authors, so naturally I needed to read Woman Down. It falls into the romance-suspense genre, which is especially entertaining because it blends emotional depth with an edge of unpredictability. The first few chapters felt a bit slow at first, but they were clearly necessary to set the stage—building the characters, establishing the setting, and giving insight into Petra’s current state of mind. Once the romance element began to develop and the suspense kicked in, I was completely hooked. This easily could have been a one-day read for me, but with kids and a busy schedule, it took longer than I wanted.Petra is a writer struggling with intense writer’s block. When deadlines loom, she retreats to a secluded lake for a month at a time, shutting out the world in hopes of finding inspiration. This trip, however, feels very different. Petra begins making questionable choices and slowly starts behaving like one of the characters from her own novels. As a reader, I was genuinely shocked by some of the decisions she made. The story is packed with twists and turns that kept me on edge and constantly wanting to read just one more chapter. The ending wasn’t exactly what I expected, but it was satisfying and well done. Overall, Woman Down was an engaging, suspenseful read that kept me guessing until the very end and reminded me why Colleen Hoover remains one of my favorite authors.
