Welcome back to Kroydon Hills, where football & hockey reign…though an occasional MMA match makes it’s way into the headlines as well…Hmm…holy smokes…what can one say that isn’t a spoiler??The first thing—check the trigger warnings if needed…seriously, this book does cover some heavy topics, one or two of them right from the start…Sweet Oblivion features Ryker Beneventi & Delaney Rousseau. We met Delaney in Sweet Surrender—she’s Ashton Carmichael’s younger sister…and of course we’ve seen Ryker on & off the pages since Teasing (Maverick’s book in the Red Lips & White Lies series).We get more of her backstory…plus she’s got a pet…one that isn’t common for many people…We get to see more of Hendrix on page…he’s back in town…We get to find out where Ryker was ‘disappearing’ to from time to time…Their story…holy smokes..One probably will need tissues…even to just dab your eyes, depending on how emotional one gets while reading.We get Ryker overprotective…as are all Beneventi males…Which results in an ‘fake engagement’…an marriage of convenience (or as Lenny is calling it “The Wedding of the Year”)…and an happily-ever-after that worthy of any couple in Kroydon Hills.Their story starts within the last few chapters of Jamie & Ashton’s story….there’s a little ‘overlap’ in certain events. It turns out that these two had met before…and holy moly that backstory…If I could give this story a million stars…We get a few of the first generation on paper…of course Lenny & Bash…and Lenny is totally in ‘mama bear’ mode for awhile…Bash does his best to try to keep her calm…Seeing Scarlet in her element…seeing how much Olivia is Scarlet’s “mini-me”…can’t wait for her story.Then seeing how Delaney is ‘introduced’ to various members of the Ryker’s very large, very loving, but in everyone’s business family.The unhinged book club text threads….The family text threads…Getting to see more of Nonna..Am I going to be doing a re-read? Yep…because I’m sure I’ve missed a golden moment (or three)…Has Ryker tied his brother & various cousins as my number-one favorite second generation male? Yes…yes he has…he might even be sitting slightly above them…I would say he’s my number one…but it’s hard to chose just one Beneventi (or St James) male as all time favorite.Five hundred to a million stars…if I could…but since ratings don’t go that high—five stars. If you haven’t read anything by Bella Matthews—grab this book…dive into Kroydon Hills…because that’s one of the great things about this interconnected world—you can start anywhere. I may be doing a massive re-binging of the universe soon…We’re not done with the series yet….up next this summer is Hendrix Sinclair…and I have to wonder—are we finally going to find out who was in the outdoor shower stall that summer (iykyk)??
