Customer Reviews Summary

4.5⭐ Judge Stone is a gripping story that had my heart in my throat from Chapter 1 right to the last page. In her commanding voice, Viola David narrates all of the characters in this story, in ways that made my veins go hot and cold. The layers of emotions complicated by past traumas crashing into today’s problems leaves Judge Mary Stone standing up for herself, and doing what she can to uphold the laws of Alabama. When reading/listening to this book, one can’t help but think about the many issues our world has faced in recent years: prejudice against race, against women and girls, shaming women who are taken advantage of and blaming them for what happened to them instead of supporting, overturning Roe v Wade, to name a few. This book had me wondering which decade the story was set in. And perhaps that’s what this book had hoped to highlight, the fact that you can read this story, and not really know whether the subject was plucked out of the headlines from 75 years ago, or last week. Sadly, it seems that in 2026 the human race hasn’t made very many strides towards harmony.Thank you Viola Davis, James Patterson, Hachette Audio, Little, Brown & Company and NetGalley for this ALC. The above is my own and personal opinion.
