I took the risk that you take when you buy these refurbished machines, and I got lucky-- absolutely no damage, and it functions perfectly as far as I can tell (I've had it for several weeks.)If you are not accustomed to the Chrome OS, then you need to understand that the sorts of applications you can install on it are extremely limited. But on the other hand, this thing isn't powerful enough that you would want to be doing anything terribly complicated anyways.This is not a machine for video editing, animation, graphic design, or music composition, etc.This is an outstanding machine for doing anything you can do within a web browser (checking and writing emails, messing around on social media, general browsing and reading, etc.)Aside from that, my main purpose for this machine is to read and study ebooks and PDFs... I used to like eReaders, but now I think I prefer reading off a luminous screen.But I am irritated that there aren't many Android apps for reading ebooks and PDFs that work exactly right on a Chromebook... you're limited to installing anything you could install on your phone.If you're a nerd, you can find workarounds (which allow you to install Linux apps,) but I don't think it's worth the hassle.Aside from all that software related stuff--the build quality of this machine is outstanding. The exterior is a very high quality hard plastic that feels like it's really going to take a beating... I can see how it's meant for students.Of course the screen is very small, but that makes the whole thing overall very small-- I almost forgot I had it in my backpack the other day. I see why they call it ultra portable-- I can't wait to bring it with me on a long flight.Some people might dislike the fact that the bezel all around the screen is very wide, but I know from experience, that is a *good* thing. It gives you something to grab on to, which you need with a machine like this, as you're going to be shifting it around all the time. I cracked the bezel on my last (insanely expensive) laptop, because it was just too thin/narrow-- just squeezing it between my thumb and forefinger was enough to crack it. That's not going to happen with this.It takes a wall-to-brick-to-USB-C type adapter; it's funny they gave me a Lenovo one, but it works fine.I'll end with something that really irritated me, though it's a problem of whoever did the packing and shipping at Amazon's distribution centre--this computer came in its own plain thin box with a tiny bit of bubble wrap, but then that small box was placed inside a MASSIVE box with no packing material around it at all-- allowing it to just bounce around freely inside. Amazon really has to do something about the people who pick and pack and deliver items in my neck of the woods (I've complained countless times, but the people I end up interacting with via email are just as useless)....anyhow, I can't remove any stars for that. This computer is rugged enough that it tolerated their incompetent packing.
