Customer Reviews Summary

I'm very pleased with the germination rate and vigor of these spinach seeds. I got a 90+% germination rate which for spinach is quite good. As with any spinach seed, it's important to prepare the seeds before planting. There are a number of ways to do this -- lots of info online as to options. The method I've used for years with great results is:1. Soak the seeds for 24 hours at room temp.2. Drain and spread them out on a paper towel to dry.3. Once they are fully dry (takes about a day) I put them in an airtight container in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours on top of a slight damp paper towel.4. Take them out and plant outdoors. I use a planting depth of about 1/2 to 3/4 inch.(optional step 5: cover the planting bed with scrap window screening to keep the squirrels out. They like to bury their nuts for winter in freshly worked garden beds which will totally mess up all your planting efforts.)Keep in mind that spinach will only germinate in soil that is below 70'ish degrees F, so this is a spring or fall crop only. I live in an area with hot, humid summers, so I only do a fall planting (in Sept and/or early Oct). This variety (Bloomsdale) is quite cold tolerant and does well even with frost with minimal protection.Good quality seeds at a decent price -- five stars.
