Update 3: customer support has been excellent so far. The new device is great. Something was definitely wrong with the old one- it never knew when the ice container was open or closed, and the Wi-Fi scheduling didn't work. I assumed I was not opening it correctly, but I think that last one had a couple wires loose. Hopefully this one is built to last- it certainly feels like it is!Update 2: started a ticket on the app, they are going to send me another machine asap. I certainly hope this one works for a few years! Hopefully this was just a weird fluke on a new production machine, because this thing does feel extremely well built. I'm going to move this back to three stars for the moment just because of the excellent service and I will move it back up if all goes well!EDIT: after only owning this for a few days, I heard a loud bang from the next room over. The machine never stopped making ice when it was full and tore the top off of the machine. We'll see how their warranty works.Ignore the below:At a glance: Yes, this machine is expensive. You can easily find a pellet ice maker for half the price, but if that is the only thing you can judge this by, you're missing the point. This machine is positioned as premium and it certainly feels premium. It's also very large compared to other ice makers- I would highly recommend measuring your countertop before ordering.The ice it makes is about perfect as you can get. It's chewy, but still manages to hold its shape in drinks.This machine is also thoughtfully designed. My previous machine required me to pick it up and move it to the sink to drain it, but that isn't the case with this machine. There are hoses hooked to the back of the machine so you can drain and clean it with just container to hold the used water/cleaning solution.It's very well designed and despite the absurd number of features it is easy to operate. It really appears actual thought was put into it- it even changes the RGB lighting to white when you open the drawer for better visibility.Only time will tell if this machine holds up over the long term, but I am confident it will. It appears to be quite well built and is heavy. It also has a 3-year warranty, which is more than you can say for any other nugget ice maker I've seen.
