I live in the Central Valley of California where the summers are usually between 95 degrees and 115 degrees during the summer. Needless to say, sprinklers are very important. Besides water evaporation, the sun and heat rapidly degrade plastics. Most lawn equipment are made of plastics. Even the well known brand names of lawn equipment usually don't last longer than 3 years before the plastic becomes brittle and degrades to the point of cracking and breaking, especially anything that move like dials, knobs and levers. Looking for something better, I did a little research on Gardena products and I noticed the mention of the plastics being frost and UV resistant! After further investigation I discover that Gardena Aquazoom sprinklers also have a FIVE year warranty! (You won't find this warranty info in the Amazon ad, so I enclosed a pic of the info on the box.) So I purchased an Aquazoom oscillating sprinkler and can say that it is, indeed, a noticeable step up in quality and precision. All the controls work very smoothly and the variability of the watering patterns is very precise. And after two summers, the plastic has not even started to fade. And the cost is comparable to the other brand name lawn equipment companies.
