The film was conceived and implemented by award-winning Mexican filmmaker and director Fernando Frías. While DEPECHE MODE: M combines thrilling concert recordings with atmospheric side impressions and selected archival material, the profound connection between music and transience within the Mexican tradition is simultaneously illustrated. The Blu-ray and DVD configuration of DEPECHE MODE: M also includes the already mentioned live album MEMENTO MORI: MEXICO CITY as well as a full-length concert film. Als Depeche-Mode-Fan ist diese 4LP-Box für mich ein echtes Highlight in der Sammlung. Die Atmosphäre des Konzerts in Mexico City ist unglaublich gut eingefangen – man spürt sofort, wie energiegeladen das Publikum ist und wie viel Spaß die Band auf der Bühne hat.Die Klangqualität ist hervorragend: klar, druckvoll und trotzdem sehr live-typisch, ohne steril zu wirken. Die Bässe kommen satt rüber, Daves Stimme steht schön im Vordergrund und auch die Details in den Synths und Gitarren sind sehr gut hörbar.Das Vinyl selbst ist sauber gepresst: kein übermäßiges Knistern, keine störenden Nebengeräusche, die Platten liegen plan auf dem Teller. Auch die Aufmachung der Box überzeugt – hochwertiges Cover, schönes Artwork und eine liebevolle Gestaltung, wie man es sich als Sammler wünscht.Die Setlist ist eine perfekte Mischung aus den Memento Mori-Songs und den großen Klassikern. Gerade in dieser Live-Version bekommen viele Stücke noch einmal eine ganz besondere Note.Fazit: Eine großartige Live-Veröffentlichung, sowohl klanglich als auch optisch.
