I had originally ordered a different basic OBD scan tool to monitor and diagnose the Check Engine Light on my vehicle as I tried to work through the issues, and found it to be very ineffective - the previous scanner failed to register any of the codes and was pretty much useless, as confirmed by my mechanic’s scanner. Needless to say, the original cheapo is going to the ECO Station. In my research, the BlueDriver was highly rated on several sites, including some extremely popular and well-known (Car and Driver 🤫), with many rating it among the best Bluetooth OBD scanners or best for the DIY mechanic, so I bought it as my replacement and have been thoroughly impressed. The unit is compact and the app is extremely easy to use. It worked well right out of the box and was able to read several codes on my vehicle. With each code found, the app provides a brief description, an indication of how common the issue is with your make and model of vehicle, and recommends common fixes for the problem. It offers links to common parts for the issue in question, and allows you the ability to submit your own fix to add to its repository. The app offers several features, including live monitoring of various systems on the vehicle, and allows you to do several scans from basic to more comprehensive. The app saves each scan so you can revisit or reference in the app on your phone, which is great for comparison and progressive evaluation as you try to cross the codes/issues off the list. Of course, it also has the ability to clear codes, and also provides some freeze frame data for the codes received (though so far only appears to be for the first/oldest code registered). The Help section within the app offers short but thorough videos detailing the operation and functionality of each of the features/categories.I’ve only used it a few times so far, so I haven’t had a great chance to use all of the possible features (and may never, as a lot of them are probably beyond my need), but I’m really impressed thus far and definitely recommend this unit. It’s well worth the price and the compact size is not at all intrusive when plugged in (on my vehicle, at least), and also makes it for convenient portability. It appears to often be on sale, too, which also a great bonus. Thanks, BlueDriver. Keep up the great work. Reviewed in Canada on December 29, 2025Verified Purchase Great for troubleshooting warnings lights. Installed a cold air intake and had some MAP sensor issues. Bought this to work through and loved how easy this was to get up and going and the app is great too. Live monitoring was cool to capture performance data.Does not have all the features of a several hundred dollar unit, but if your just looking for the basics (some advanced) then this is a great solution! It does exactly what it claims. It's compact, connects wirelessly, and works very well with my phone. I like to troubleshoot my car issues without shelling out for a mechanic, so this has been a game changer for me.What I Liked: 🏆✔️ Ease of Use: Plug it into the OBD-II port, open the app, and you're good to go. The app interface is intuitive.✔️ Broad Compatibility: Worked flawlessly on my 2012 sedan and my friend's 2008 SUV. Definitely support s most vehicles from 1996 onward it appears.✔️ Detailed Reports: The repair reports are a big standout. It provides probable causes and suggested fixes, saving time and confusion when diagnosing issues.✔️ Live Data: I enjoyed being able to see real-time data like RPMs and oxygen sensor readings. Great for understanding how my engine performs under different conditions.✔️ Portability: It's compact and wireless. Way, way better than lugging around those old wired diagnostic tools. What I Didn't Like: 😿❌ Limited Advanced Codes: While it does a fantastic job with check engine light codes, ABS, and transmission codes, the coverage for airbag codes and other modules feels a bit limited. Seems more focused on American branded vehicles exclusively.❌ App Reliance: You must have a phone or tablet. While fine for most, it could be an issue for those who aren't comfortable using apps or dont have a compatible device.❌ Occasional Delays: The full system scan takes a couple of minutes, which isn’t a dealbreaker but could feel slow if you're in a hurry.Things You Might Not Think About: 🤔💡 and Updates: The 1-year warranty is nice, and the app appears to updates its database regularly. This means even older cars might get better support over time.💡 Bluetooth Stability: Make sure your device's Bluetooth is strong. I had one instance where I needed to restart the connection.💡 Learning Curve: For beginners, some features (like Mode 6 diagnostics) might feel advanced. A quick online search can help explain these.Final Thoughts: ☺️For the price, this is an excellent tool! It's not perfect, but it covers the essentials and then some. If you're a DIY mechanic like me or just someone who likes knowing what's happening under the hood, this is worth the investment. Just keep in mind that it shines brightest when paired with a good, more modern, phone and some patience to explore all its features. Just keep in mind that it shines brightest when paired with a good, more modern, phone and some patience to explore all its features. <img src="https://m.media-amazon.com/images/S/amazon-avatars-global/3100cebb-562d-40ac-addd-05da6add630b._CR0%2C0%2C500%2C500_SX460_.jpeg"/>Shopzilla 4.0 out of 5 stars Must-Have for DIY Car Diagnostics Reviewed in Canada on November 23, 2024 I've been using this for a few weeks now, and it's a solid little device. While fine for most, it could be an issue for those who aren't comfortable using apps or dont have a compatible device.❌ Occasional Delays: The full system scan takes a couple of minutes, which isn’t a dealbreaker but could feel slow if you're in a hurry.Things You Might Not Think About: 🤔💡 Warranty and Updates: The 1-year warranty is nice, and the app appears to updates its database regularly. Images in this review
