About This Product

Pink Floyd Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th 1975, captures the band in a time of global rise. Following the success of The Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd became consolidated by an outstanding British band as one of the greatest rock groups in the world, bringing their directors to major venues and stadiums. The Wish You Were Here tour was announced in early March 1975, just a month before its launch. Appointments had immediately expired and broke records at box offices including the Los Angeles Sports Arena, where the 67,000 tickets available for four nights in one day were sold. An additional fifth date confirmed an off-road residence and was also sold out within hours. The recording on which this historic release is based was recorded by renowned bootlegger Mike "Mike the Mic" Millard, who is known for the quality of his records at concerts in Los Angeles in the 1970s. To avoid safety, Millard hid his gear by impersonating himself as a disabled person and having access to wheelchair enclosures. Although many of his recordings circulated unofficially on vinyl, he never supported its marketing for lucrative purposes. Pink Floyd's penultimate concert on the grounds remained previously unreleased and virtually inaccessible. Restored and remastered by Steven Wilson, this release provides the ultimate recording of the 1975 tour. At the time of these concerts, Pink Floyd was in a phase of creative transition. Although a new album was expected in the same year, the band began their North American tour by presenting material still under development on stage. The repertoire was opened with early versions of "Raving and Drooling" and "You've Got To Be Crazy," which later evolved into "Sheep" and "Dogs" in the Animals album. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" framed another new composition in its two parts, "Have a Cigar". Behind these pieces, the group played the dark side of the moon and closed the concert with "Echoes" as to.
