Customer Reviews Summary

This is one of the best ‘safety’ purchases I believe anyone with a vehicle can make. I first learned about these devices a number of years ago and recently, when one of our family’s vehicle’s battery died, my brother, who is a licensed mechanic, pulled out his jump start power pack. It did the job and I thought that I would like to get one myself. After a lot of research, and reviews, I settled on the Wolfbox. I would also add that when I first made the purchase, the statistics on the Amazon details showed ‘over 600 purchased in the last month. The next day when it arrived, I took a look at it’s description again in my Amazon orders and it had jumped to 700 sold in the last month.I believe I made a very good investment.I own a PHEV, and part of my research was to confirm with my car’s manufacturer that using a Jump Start power pack would not cause damage to my vehicle’s electronics as it is primarily an electric vehicle with a gas engine as a back up (from my point of view) The manufacturer had a dedicated guide on using jump start power packs and my vehicle’s model was in the write-up specifically so I had my green light. The unit came with 78% power already in it and the supplied 65W USB-C wall charger brought it to 100% in less than 15 minutes. I found the LED light was not overly bright as I would have expected, but it would allow you to easily see what you are doing under the hood, or in my case, in the trunk of the car. The strobing mode gave a continuous series of flashes and the S.O.S. works fine (if you know your Morse Code). It has a type A USB port for connecting devices for charging, I did not try this out as most of my devices use type C. The unit only comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. If you need to charge something, you will have to use that devices charging cable to do so. I would store a couple of different types of cables with the unit should you ever need to charge a device.Regarding the Wolfbox size and the storage case it comes with, you may wish to consider if you have an electric vehicle where to store it. With a dead battery, you could not open your trunk, so that leaves inside your cab, and the glove box is an obvious choice. Depending on how big your glovebox space is and if you have a built in shelf, you may find it tight. The EVA case the Wolfbox is stored in can be squished a bit, giving you a size of 3.5” in height, by 10.25 inches wide and a depth of 4.75 inches. I found my glove box could accommodate it with a little to spare. While I will not purposefully deplete my battery just to test the unit. I know that it will do it’s job when required. The unit states it has a maximum of 4,000 cranking amps available (this is in the “BOOST” mode, and can supply the typical 1,000 cranking amps in the “Normal” mode). The device is easy to handle, and not heavy. I did connect it to the mentioned ‘dead’ battery we have not recycled yet, the unit high-lights the ‘START’ icon in the lower left of the LCD display in green to let you know to try starting your vehicle. That battery had 11.86 volts still, but obviously no reserves to supply current. One difference I noted that this Wolfbox unit has compared to several others is the actual jumper cables are ‘just cables’. Many other manufacturer’s units have an adapter module as part of the jumper cable clamps. The Wolfbox does not. The safeguarding electronics are built inside the unit rather than having the removable jumper cable clamps have it on them. This makes the cable clamps easier to handle and as well, I noticed compared to my brother’s device, longer. One of my photos shows the cable clamps of another brand’s (my brothers) to see the difference. One photo shows the Wolfbox compared to an iPhone 13 Pro Max, as well as a portable power pack for USB devices. You can see the size difference of the three items to have a comparison.Given the quality of the item’s build, and as well the simple but clearly effective display of information, the very fast charging time, and easy to understand user manual, I would recommend this unit over others for what it does.I chose this type of Jump Starter that just ‘jump starts’ a vehicle rather than one with a built in air compressor because I already have an air compressor with the purchase of my car. As for the ‘all-in-one’ units, I find that sometimes too many features can lead to issues down the road that were unexpected and thus, keeping it simple to doing just one job primarily is why I went for this version of the Wolfbox.
