I had to immediately download The Long Game when I finished Heated Rivalry.Quick heads up that this book has a slightly heavy mental health subplot that is brilliant but may be triggering for some.The Long Game jumps ahead a bit and we find Ilya playing for Ottawa to be close to Shane, who’s been living the dream. But as they slowly let people in on their secret, the imbalance of sacrifice starts to get in the way.Ilya finds himself struggling with the depression that took his mother and feeling alone in the changes he made to keep Shane in his life.This booooook was much more emotional than HR and it was absolutely gut wrenching. The development for Ilya and Shane, individually and as a couple, is unreal. The payoff is there for the emotional damage, in true romance HEA guaranteed fashion.Preordered Unrivalled before I even finished. Probably with a face full of tears when I hit complete order.
