I used this for backing up files from different media types and it worked flawlessly. I used the DVD, SD, and TF ports. I suspect the CF and other port will work fine as well. Although the unit has a 5V power inlet to power the DVD for extended use, I found that it operated just fine plugged into USB for power, at least for a software install. I like the built-in cord storage on the bottom of the unit - means I don't need yet another USB cord. The built-in cord is short but if you are only using this for occasional data transfer it is fine. i would recommend this product.
