McCafé as a brand sits in an interesting position, it's attached to a fast food chain but the coffee has always been taken more seriously than the association suggests, and these K-Cup pods are a good example of why. I've been using them for a few days now and the consistency from cup to cup is the first thing that stands out.The 100% Arabica beans are fire roasted and the medium dark profile lands where it should: enough body to feel substantial in the morning, smooth enough that you don't need to add much to make it drinkable. There's a hint of chocolate in the background and the finish is clean. What you don't get is the sharp bitterness that some darker roasts carry, which makes this a good option if you want something with presence but not aggression.One thing I've appreciated is how well it works for iced coffee. I brew it at the smaller setting, let it cool for a few minutes, then pour it over ice, and the flavour holds up much better than I expected. A lot of medium roasts go thin and a bit sour when chilled, this one doesn't.The Rainforest Alliance certification on the beans and the Canadian roasting operation are details that add something real to the product, not just label decoration. For a 48-count box the per-pod cost is genuinely reasonable.
