Nice, soft and warm, and covers a large area. It works best under/behind the body (for example, behind your back, or under your legs/hips) versus on top of your body because your body weight will keep the padding in closer contact with your targetted aches. If it lightly sits on top of your body (for example, on your lap), it won't feel warm (maybe if you put a heavy pillow on top). I mention this placement difference because several reviewers say the pillow doesn't get hot enough, even at the highest setting. Unless you have bad luck and recieve a dud, I think you'll be happy with this product. I should note that I often use it on the highest setting, and it's wonderful, even if I'm wearing a bulky hoodie or thicker jogging pants. If I'm only wearing a thin tshirt or lounge pants, I use a lower setting (my skin has turned red at the highest setting). I haven't washed it yet, but will update with the outcome.
