Customer Reviews Summary

Google TV Streamer (4K)No web browser, and one CANNOT use Google Play to install Google Chrome, BBC iPlayer, etc. The screen-casting ("ChromeCast") works only with Google branded devices, and is poor quality (low-rez and laggy) for video, even over WiFi-5 + Ethernet. WiFi is 5th gen (AC), not AX or WiFi-7. No MiraCast compatibility. Only one USB(C) port for power/data means a USB/PD hub is required in order to play media from a USB flash drive. Those are the negatives. But it is well designed (other than the single USB), the processor is FAST compared with many other devices, and it does have a decent amount of RAM and internal storage. The user interface is very similar to stock Android TV, but with a bit more polish to improve usability. The ability to configure CEC and IR actions can result in a simple turn-key "appliance" style set-up. Excellent in that regard. The specs say it REQUIRES a HDMI 2.1 cable, aka. HDMI "Ultra High Speed" (48gbps). That's true only if playing 4K video perhaps. I'm using it quite successfully here with a 4K TV, but with an older 10' long "High Speed" (18gbps) HDMI cable -- no issues. The included Bluetooth remote control is excellent, and can be configured to harmoniously control an entire AV setup (TV Box, TV, and Sound System) -- I've ordered another such remote to use with Android TV on a RaspberryPi. The two dedicated app buttons (YouTube, NetFlix) on the remote are a bit of a waste, and cannot be reconfigured via the normal system settings. Fortunately, there's a free "Button Mapper" app on Google Play that makes those buttons much more useful. The "home screen" is cluttered with zillions of "Pay-TV" suggestions, but with appropriate app shortcuts programmed onto the remote, one can ignore the clutter and go straight to ones' preferred content players.I did manage to find a proper .APK for BBC iPlayer, so that's now installed and working over the WindScribe VPN app. This one's a keeper!
