I waited a long time before getting into Echos. Recently, when I was laid up following an accident and having trouble walking, I saw the big promotions and decided to see if Alexa could help. I started with this model which proved impossible to get working. Amazon Support quickly sent me a replacement which took about 5 minutes to set up and is becoming my new Best Friend. I love this thing!While I teach Alexa what I want, I also learn how to make her work for me, so there is a bit of a learning curve. I got past the basics (music, timers, reminders …) which were delightful enough, and then into Routines. I already have a whole list, and boy, do I ever appreciate what she does.I bought more products while they were on sale and in Bundles, so I now have several Echos, smart lights, plugs, and cameras. I can control lights, heaters, and music in several rooms, and check my porch cameras, all with Alexa.I let the dogs out and when they return to the door, I get a notification. What a relief not to have to keep checking. I am told when an Amazon package has arrived. My morning Wake Up is a delight. I could go on.One thing was disappointing and that is I ordered an Echo Show 8 which was not delivered on time and, it turns out, will not arrive for some time to come. I would cancel the order except that I now absolutely ‘need’ that one in my kitchen. Luckily, it was a good price and in view of how much I like the other products, it will be worth waiting for.Wow. I do have great help, and that should be the end of it. But no. I find myself checking on Echo promotions. Who knows? I might even end up with something else.
