Verdict: The UGREEN 5-in-1 USB-C hub is the dongle I would actually throw in a bag. The Acer 5-in-1 is the same job with 4K at 60Hz instead of 30Hz. Our catalog today, August 26, 2026, has the UGREEN at $11.98 and the Acer at $19.99. That is $8.01 for smoother HDMI. I would keep the eight dollars unless I already know I sit in 4K video.
I cover consumer tech from San Francisco. I am not posting an HDMI frame-time log. I am asking whether a second dongle that promises 60Hz is worth eight bucks when the cheap one already does HDMI, charging, and a flash drive.

The Acer ODK5U0 is also a 5-in-1: 4K HDMI at 60Hz, 100W PD in with about 90W out to the laptop, USB-C 3.0 at 5 Gbps, USB-A 3.0, and a USB-A 2.0. Aluminum shell. The listing is explicit that the host USB-C port needs DisplayPort Alt Mode, PD, and data. Windows, macOS, ChromeOS. MacBook, Surface, Acer. In stock. The Amazon review blob on this card is 4.4 from a few hundred reviews. The UGREEN card's blob is 4.6 from tens of thousands. I am quoting the listing, not inventing a lab.
Both are hubs. Neither is a 13-in-1 Anker dock. If you wanted a desk dock, that is a different post and a different pile of money.
Who it's for
Buy the UGREEN at $11.98 if the job is a hotel monitor, a conference-room display, a flash drive, and not dying at 12%. 4K30 is a movie and a slides deck. It is not a color-grade timeline. One USB 3.0 port is enough for the drive you actually travel with. The two USB 2.0 ports are the mouse and the keyboard. That is a café table.
Buy the Acer at $19.99 if you already know the external display is 4K and you hate 30Hz. The listing's pitch is "stop settling for blurry 30Hz." That sentence is marketing. 60Hz vs 30Hz on a 4K panel is a real difference when you scroll and drag windows. It is not a real difference on a 1080p hotel TV. The extra USB-C data port is the other reason to step up — one less dongle-on-dongle if your drive is USB-C.
Who should skip
Skip the Acer if you were going to "grow into" 60Hz. You will not, on a 1080p panel. Skip it if the $8 is going to make you cheap out on a cable you already own. Skip it if you needed two HDMI ports or an Ethernet jack. This is still five ports.
Skip the UGREEN if 4K60 is a requirement you can name, or if you needed a USB-C data port on the hub itself. Skip both if your laptop already has HDMI and you were buying a hub for the aesthetic. Skip our Anker 7-in-1 card at $74.99 with a $29.99 "original" that is lower than the current price. That is a catalog card to ignore.
Honest nits
- The gap is $8.01. That is lunch, not a dock. The decision is 30Hz vs 60Hz, plus whether you need a USB-C data port.
- 4K30 vs 4K60. I will not fake a chase-scene demo. If your monitor's spec sheet says 60Hz and you work in 4K, the Acer listing is the one that matches. If you do not, you are paying for a number.
- PD math. UGREEN says 95W through, 5W reserved. Acer says 90W out. Both want a charger you already own. Neither includes the brick. Pass-through is only as good as the brick in the bag.
- Linux. UGREEN lists it. Anker's 5-in-1 in this catalog says it is not compatible with Linux. The Acer listing names Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and does not mention Linux. If you live in Linux, read the live Amazon Q&A before you click Acer.
- I will not fake a heat test. Aluminum vs plastic is a real feel in the hand. It is not an $8 feel for email.
Value verdict
Buy the UGREEN if HDMI, charge, and a stick are the job. Buy the Acer if you can name the 4K60 display. Buy neither if you already have HDMI on the chassis.
