Skip the A16 iPad only if you already know you need Pencil Pro, a Magic Keyboard, or a chip that is not a phone SoC. Do not skip it because a product page said "Apple Intelligence."
Honest nits
- 128GB fills up. 128GB on either tablet is tight once Photos and a few 4K clips land. I would rather have 128GB at $276 than pay $189 for a faster chip and the same storage ceiling.
- Accessory math. Magic Keyboard plus Pencil Pro can swallow the $189 gap and then some. Suddenly you own a $700+ tablet that still is not a MacBook.
- Display. The Air's lamination and coating feel nicer in the hand. That is a real difference. It is not a $189 difference for Netflix.
- I will not fake benches. M3 is faster than A16. You feel it in layered creative apps and stubborn multitasking. You do not feel it in YouTube, Kindle, or Notes.
If you already own a recent iPad, this is not an upgrade cycle. If you do not own one, start at $275.62. Open Amazon, confirm Sold by Amazon, confirm 128GB Wi-Fi, and buy the A16. Step up to M3 only with a specific app in mind, not a vibe.
