After having seen other brilliant Kurosawa films, I knew that the 3 hours watching this film would be well spent. I was not disappointed. Red beard uses every minute perfectly to showcase a very human story that cuts to the heart of the human experience. It's emotionally affecting in places and captivating throughout.
