So, I've had painfully cracked bleeding chapped lips for as long as I can remember. Year round. Constant. I've tried everything. Every lip balm, vaseline, anything anyone ever suggested. I even saw a doctor, but he couldn't shed any light on the situation. "Your lip is bleeding" is actually the first thing my now husband said to me on our first date! How romantic!Anyway, Every 4-5 months I would try to google different things to try to find a cause and/or a solution. Finally at my last google session, I found a page where someone recommended Lanolin. It sort of made me feel a little strange when I found out where it came from, but I was willing to try it. I was mostly afraid of the texture/flavor. I knew putting it on my lips was not an issue since its used by breastfeeding mothers, and it doesn't need to be cleaned off before nursing.Let me tell you...this was a godsend! I have not had a crack in my lips since I have started using this. I do get some flakes of dry skin on them here or there, but my entire bottom lip was painfully shedding multiple times a day. I can totally deal with a flake of dry skin here or there to remove. I don't even need to remember to put it on constantly, just a few times a day. The texture is actually fantastic, less greasy than vaseline, but not waxy as I was afraid. You just need a little teeny dab and it lasts for a long time.If this can soothe my chronically chapped lips, I would bet it does an equally fantastic job on sore nipples. I would suggest getting it before you need it just as a preventative. Possibly give it a baby shower gift if you had luck with it yourself.I couldn't be happier!
